New Native Theatre celebrates Indigenous Peoples Day by offering a week-long offering of classes and workshops taught by a fantastic group of artists never before brought together in one event!

  

All classes are FREE and take place at Gremlin Theatre except for Wednesday’s class with zAmya (which will be at Phillips Park @ 2307 17th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55404).

6pm to 7pm – Tap Into Your Inner Creative Spirit
Taught by Deanna StandingCloud.

7pm to 8pm – Artist Management
Taught by Crystal Moose.

Tuesday, Oct 2
12:00pm to 1:30pm – Improv for Life
Taught by John Gebretatose.

Wednesday, Oct 3
12pm to 2pm – Intro to Puppetry
Taught by Chamindika Wanduragala.

6pm to 8pm – Make a Play Together!
zAmya Theater Project of St Stephen’s Human Services. Taught by Maren Ward. ****This class is NOT AT GREMLIN THEATRE, it will be held at Phillips Park, 2307 17th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55404.

Thursday, Oct 4
12pm to 1:30pm – Intro to Shakespeare by Making Rude Elizabethan Words
Taught by Delinda “Oogie” Pushetonequa.

6pm to 8pm – Improv for Life
This workshop will speak to the usefulness of improv as a tool in daily life. Taught by John Gebretatose.

Friday, Oct 5
12:00pm to 1:30pm – Public Speaking for Native Professionals. Taught by Rhiana Yazzie and a guest artist.

7:30pm – Actor Showcase! #1
Join NNT ensemble members as they try out new material and show off their skills. A fun evening of experimentation, comedy, some old stories made new, and music. Presented in a “relaxed performance style” for all to enjoy! The night ends with open Karaoke NNT style! FREE

Saturday, Oct 6
10:00am to 12:30pm – Playwrights and Pancakes
Let’s eat pancakes while we practice and learn the art of playwriting! Taught by Rhiana Yazzie

1:00pm to 3:00pm – Theatre and the Kiddos
How to balance life, theatre, and kids. Bring your kids to this one! Taught by Andrea Fairbanks.

3:30pm to 5pm – An Architect’s View on Theatre
Integrating cultural, spatial, aesthetic, and sustainable design goals. Taught by Sam Olbekson.

7:30pm – Actor Showcase! #2

11:00am to 1:00pm – Intro to the Super-Creative Possibilities of Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints for Actors or Directors. Taught by Martha B. Johnson.

1:30pm to 3:00pm – Systems Navigating
This workshop will explore various funding structures and how artists can create their own models to best suits their needs/goals. Taught by Caroline Taiwo.

4:00pm to 6:00pm – See us, hear us, be us
Taught by Sam Mitchell of Rosy Simas Danse.
