Please join the Indigenous communities of the Twin Cities in celebrating the second annual Indigenous Peoples Day Parade! Any people or organizations/agencies planning to march in the parade will need to gather at AIMS green space between 10-10:30am, check in and find your assigned place in line. The parade will begin at 11am sharp. The route will continue to the sacred Indian Mounds Park at 10 Mounds Blvd. At the park there will be performers, student speakers, singing, dancing and celebrations of Indigenous Peoples, ending by 1:30pm.
***Theme 2017*** Protect Mother Earth
All participants are encouraged to address ways to protect Earth, create floats, banners, posters, let your creative juices flow to make a statement towards ways Indigenous people need to protect Earth. Examples might be addressing Wild Rice threats, Line 3, clean waters, protecting sacred lands like mounds, climate change, energy conservation…anything that protects Earth and encourages change. Each registered group/class will be judged along the parade path and trophies will be awarded to the best group/class!!
